IWC hosts international biodiversity group

This week the IWC will host the 14th meeting of the Liaison Group of Biodiversity-related Conventions (BLG).  The BLG brings together the eight inter-governmental conventions whose mandate includes protection of biodiversity. 

Latest Entanglement Response trainees complete an action-packed apprenticeship in Cape Cod.

This year’s two apprentices to the Global Whale Entanglement Response Network have completed their training with the IWC and its partner, the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS), and returned to Peru.

Small Cetaceans Task Team workshop: South Asian River Dolphins

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is hosting a workshop focused on the Ganges and Indus river dolphins, known collectively as South Asian river dolphins.  These are categorised as endangered by the IUCN Red List, and face a range of threats including bycatch, pollution, and habitat loss as dams and barrages alter river courses.
