Employment or secondment opportunity- IWC Bycatch Coordinator

The IWC is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead the strategic development IWC bycatch mitigation initiative, which seeks to help governments to address issues relating to cetacean bycatch and in particular its mitigation; and to commence delivery of its programme of work. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment. They will have demonstrable professional experience in a relevant field and in the strategic development and management of new programmes of work. They will have knowledge of bycatch mitigation measures and an awareness of relevant legislation.  She/he will be fluent in English.

This post is advertised on a fixed term basis until the end of September 2018, with extension for a further two years subject to approval by the Commission at its 67th meeting in September 2018. It is therefore intended to appoint an applicant capable of delivering the initiative over this longer time period.  A secondment arrangement could also be considered for the successful candidate.
